YouTuber I am LOVING at the Minute

YouTube is an amazing invention. It is a place for people to post and host videos of their kids for family and friends, for new and developing artists to get their work noticed, a place to share beauty and fashion tips, a place for gamers to get tips on their game of choice, a place for narcissists like me to show their face to the world....the list goes on...

Recently (to be fair, I am writing this almost six weeks in advance, so it's not quite recent by the time you're actually reading this), I was introduced to her through a widely spread video she did on 50+ reasons why she is a feminist.  Of course, when I posted this on my Facebook, there were people that refused to watch it because Upworthy picked it up or because they disliked this girl...honestly, I kind of think those are weird excuses (?). I'm not sure if they were trying to distance themselves from facing feminist facts or if they genuinely thought she was self-absorbed? I don't see it...

At any rate, Laci Green has been off of my radar for far too long and I'm so happy to have her as a part of my favorite YouTubers. Green not only talks about the great reasons to be a feminist, but also frankly discusses issues from sexual consent to losing your virginity to how to properly wash your vagina. This are things that are often not talked about in schools, and as a teen I would have really, really appreciated being able to get reliable sexual information from her. I went to Catholic school where we were not taught anything about how to properly use contraceptives. My family didn't speak to me about sex, or if they did, I can't remember much past the expectation to remain a virgin until marriage (and I know if my mom is reading this, she is going to have a panic attack over the fact that I have written that). I did get some information from clandestinely listening to Loveline on the lowest volume with Dr. Drew and Adam Carrola.  I know now that a lot of Carrola's ramblings were misogynistic and his expectations on women weren't all that healthy. I remember thinking that if this is the way the world expected me to operate as a woman, I wouldn't really hack it at femininity. Also, during that time, I was pretty much expecting to wait until I was married....and I certainly didn't picture myself now at 30, unmarried and living an ocean away...but I digress...

Sex and sexuality are very new and scary subjects for many young women and Green gives them the information they need to make informed decisions and helps educate them on their bodies. I mean, she's like your own personal sex ed teacher who candidly tells you everything you were ever wondering about sex. And if you're an embarrassed teen, being able to do that in the comfort of your own home is an absolutely plus.

Now...go watch her 50+ Reasons why she is a feminist video.

I LOVE Laci Green! I am an addict to YouTube Vlogs, and I can't believe I did not include her in my top Vlog channels!
She speaks the truth, and it is the RAW truth, which is why a lot of people "hate her" or "can't stand her feminist ideals". No, you're just scared of the truth!

    Great post!
