Taking care of yourself at uni (as they call it in the UK, college for you US folk!) is extremely important. Not only is it easy to over commit yourself and make it difficult to relax, but when you're away from home the first time, the stress can cause you to have more issues of the feminine sort. For instance, because many women become sexually active for the first time at college or uni, you may find that you have more problems with cystitis and infections.
Because that may be the case, here are some top tips I've learned throughout my time in education:
1. Schedule you time. Whether that means taking a nice hot bath or doing yoga once a week, this is a great way to relax and stave off infections.
2. Don't take baths with lots of lotions and potions and additives too often as this can seriously irritate your private parts!
3. Drink lots of water. Staying hydrated is key to living well, but also to keeping infections at pay.
4. Go to the doctor if you aren't feeling well or suspect that you have any kind of infection. It is important you don't let the treatment get out of hand.
5. Reward yourself as you go with your projects and assignments. Don't get too overwhelmed by breaking up your time.
Cystitis is incredibly painful, and something I've suffered with for the past 12 years or so. I get them at abnormal rates due to my other health issues, but I still subscribe to doing all of the above to help lessen the infections I do get.
What do you do to relax?
