Sandals are by far the best footwear option for the summer. They allow your feet to breathe, and are lightweight, which means they are comfortable. This type of footwear is ideal for walking around while you are on holiday, or enjoying a day out.
If you have not bought a pair of sandals for a while, this post will be particularly helpful. It provides a roundup of what is available, and gives you some tips to help you to decide what to wear with each style.
Gladiator sandals
Gladiator sandals have only recently become popular again. This year, there are several types available, everything from sensible flat versions that only cover the feet, to thin strappy models that lightly cover much of the bottom part of your leg. If you want something for a party gladiator sandals are a good option, they look great with a dress or skirt.
Ankle strap courts
These are a beautiful cross between a sandal and a shoe. They are styled like a classic court shoe, but without the mid-section.
A thin ankle strap holds the shoe on the foot. This elegant shoe is ideal for a summer wedding, or, in more muted colours, for wearing with a light suit at work.
Block heel sandals
If you want a truly comfortable pair of sandals with a little height, block heel sandals are a fantastic option. They go with practically any style of clothing, and look just as good with trousers as they do with a skirt, or dress.
A glittery or metallic pair is ideal for a night out. In this type of sandal, you can dance all night if you want to without worrying about getting achy feet.
Fun flats
However, if you want true comfort the best option is still flat sandals. This year, designers are having a lot of fun. There are some lovely bright designs available, which provides you with an easy way to pick up your outfit, and stand out from the crowd.
Mule sandals
If you want a more substantial summer shoe, the mule sandal is probably what you are looking for. They have no back, and the toe area is cut away, so you are unlikely to get blisters when wearing this style of shoe.
You can easily slip them on and off, but they stay firmly in place when you want them to. If your feet tend to swell a bit, as the day progresses, mules are far better than strappy sandals. Straps tend to cut in a bit. With mules this is not an issue, you just need to be careful not to buy a pair that is too tight in the first place.
More styles
Well there you have it, the 2016 sandal guide. With such a big choice, shopping for women's sandals has never been easier. It is really easy to find the perfect pair, at the right price.
